A History of Latshaw's Bakery

Join us for the next Spring-Ford Area Historical Society program on Wednesday, September 11 at 7:30 p.m. SFAHS board member, Dave Willauer and his brothers, Brad and Neil, great-grandsons of Hosea E. Latshaw, will share a program on the history of Latshaw's Bakery. A bakery has operated at 26 South Main Street in Spring City at least as early as 1869. Latshaw's Bakery closed its doors in 1974 and stopped all operations in 1977. Even though the bakery has been closed to the public for more than 45 years, people still talk about the mouth-watering baked goods that it produced. On display will be a large number of artifacts from the family as well as from the museum's collection. In addition to the artifacts, the bakery's history will be related with images and family stories. Copies of the recipe for Latshaw's Log Cabin Cookies, a popular item at the bakery, will be given to those who attend.

All historical society programs are free and open to the public, and are held at the Royersford VFW, 730 South 4th Avenue, Royersford.
